February Round-Up '25

February's always a busy month for me!!! Lots of celebrating, lots of work, lots of assorted things happening. I dunno if anyone actually reads these updates, but I hope you enjoy seeing what I did!

Valentines 2025

Valentine's Day was nice - Chris and I enjoyed a day of playing games together (namely Chulip), making a big delicious dinner, and eating tasty sweet treats. I had finished all the physical Valentines that were ordered earlier in the month and their recipients got to enjoy them day-of, plus I also made digital Valentines for people around the world to enjoy as well! Since nobody has bought any of the digital cards I'm not sure that I'll make more in the future, but those will remain on my Itch for future holidays.

Here's what the finished handmade Hyrax cards looked like!

Chris treated me to some delicious desserts from a Patisserie as a gift! Here's their Valentine's selection - we ended up getting the beautiful pistachio rose near the middle, and the Saint Honore that you can see on the far left!

We made a delicious Thanksgiving-style meal for Valentine's dinner!

Anniversary

As of February 17th it's been 8 years of dating my partner!!! I love you Chris!!!!!!!!!!!! Things have been really tough in the world lately, but with my partner I feel like everything will be okay. To celebrate such a momentous occasion, we went to some of our favorite places, ate yummy things together, had a movie date (review of the movie is a little bit further down), and played more video games! It was a relaxed time and made me so very happy!

I'd wanted to eat Sqirl's Rainbow Ricotta toast for a very long time, and it was worth the wait!!!!

Streaming

I finished my Yakuza 0 playthrough hooray!! Since Twitch is enacting a 100 hour limit for keeping highlights (which goes into effect on my birthday waaaah), I'm going to start uploading any full game playthroughs I do into playlists on YouTube. I'll link to those once I have them set up so people can enjoy at their leisure!

Something else that was fun was jumping into my dear buddy Edge's birthday celebration stream - we had a blast together with Spacey doodling things from memory, Edge watched a bunch of personal birthday wish videos, and it was just a grand old time celebrating such a good friend!!

I also had a good time celebrating Pokemon day a little early with a doodle stream! I asked people for their 2 favorite Pokemon, and then... made some funky fusions!! You can enjoy the image of all the requests below!

Games

  • I have been thoroughly enjoying Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii!! I'm actually still only in the second chapter of the game because I've been spending so much time (literal hours) indulging in wacky side quests, playing tons of the mini games, and beating up meanies on the streets just so I can engage in the super fun action gameplay. Though I haven't thought the story's writing has been too interesting so far, Majima's one of my favorite characters in gaming and I think this is an excellent game to feature him. I look forward to more of the game!
  • Baby tiger Goro has been such a delight to travel with in the game!!!!

  • I participated in the Sonic Racing Crossworlds network test and liked it overall! If you like kart racers, especially Mario Kart, this feels very much like that and you'd probably enjoy it. I was pretty disappointed in the soundtrack... I'm not a fan of the "crowd chanting to make it feel hype" style at all, and the music felt like it switched way too often thanks to a certain power-up having a theme of its own. I'm hoping they make it feel less chaotic overall when the final release comes. It's a game I'm interested in picking up probably on a decent sale rather than first thing since I'm not competitive at all, and I look forward to playing the single player mode eventually!
  • The car I used was a cute little pink motobug with Shadow on it!

  • I've been watching my partner play through LunarLux, a sweet little indie which takes direct influence from MegaMan Battle Network and Undertale! I adore how much love it shows for other games and anime, with tons of cute references scattered throughout. The story was simple, but I appreciate the motivation the characters have, and aside from a few little gameplay things (such as instantly taking you out of jetpack mode if you accidentally go into a building) it seems enjoyable enough.

    Media

  • My partner and I celebrated our anniversary watching The Wild Robot, a beautiful movie with a lot of heart and lovely animation that reminded me of the previous Puss in Boots film. I haven't really been able to keep up with modern movies in awhile and I'm glad we made some time for this one!
  • I was expecting romance, but what I got from Lost in Translation was a drama that touched on all the feelings I was experiencing at the moment of watching: loneliness, disconnect from the world around me, uncertainty for the future. I enjoyed it a LOT more than I figured I would going into it, and liked its subtle approach to humor.
  • I'm no fan of Rom-Coms but was in the mood to see something "romantic" in nature, so I tried looking into movies that might not be so... like the other ones. Stranger than Fiction was the choice I landed on, and I enjoyed it decently well! I thought it was a fun spin on an "inner dialogue" and the way the story came together was more interesting than the typical romance. Maybe I just like "romantic" movies where that isn't the main focus? I think the funniest thing about this movie is that there was some tax advice in it that could actually help me in the future...

  • Onward to March!

March is already shaping up to be another busy month. We have family coming into town soon, I have dentist stuff to deal with, and I'm working hard to plan some fun streams for the future. Let me know if you read this, and also tell me about how your month was too!

I ate this "Shadownut" and it was nice!! It's a plan donut with bittersweet chocolate frosting and sprinkles.
